๐ Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Power Off & Remove Screws
Power off your iPhone 11 completely. Remove the two pentalobe P2 screws on either side of the Lightning port at the bottom of the device.
Step 2: Heat the Display Edges
The iPhone 11 has strong waterproof adhesive around the display. Use a heat gun or hair dryer on medium heat, applying warmth to each edge for about 1-2 minutes. Focus on the bottom and sides where adhesive is thickest.
Step 3: Create an Opening Gap
Apply a suction cup to the bottom of the screen (just above the home indicator area). Pull upward firmly with steady pressure while pressing down on the aluminum frame. You should hear a small pop when the adhesive releases.
Step 4: Insert Opening Picks
Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap you've created. Slide it along the bottom edge, then work your way up the left side. Don't forceโif resistance is high, apply more heat. The display cables run along the right side, so work from the left.
Step 5: Swing Open the Display
Once the adhesive is sufficiently loosened around the edges, gently lift the bottom of the screen and swing it open upward like opening a book. Don't separate it completelyโlet it hang by the ribbon cables at the top.
Step 6: Disconnect Battery Connector
Before touching any display cables, disconnect the battery. Locate the battery connector on the left side. Remove the bracket (2 screws) and use a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery cable. This prevents short circuits.
Step 7: Disconnect Display Cables
Now disconnect the display. You'll see a connector bracket with 5 screws (tri-point Y000). Remove them all, then carefully disconnect three ribbon cables:
- Front sensor assembly (top connector)
- LCD panel connector (middle)
- Digitizer connector (bottom)
Use a plastic spudger to lift the cable connectors gently. Once all are disconnected, you can fully remove the old display.
Step 8: Prepare New Display
Clean any remaining adhesive from the frame. Inspect the new display assembly and ensure all pre-installed components are present: earpiece speaker, front camera, and light/proximity sensor if not on the device side.
Step 9: Reconnect Display Cables
Connect all three display ribbon cables in reverse order of removal:
- Digitizer connector (bottom)
- LCD panel connector (middle)
- Front sensor assembly (top)
Ensure each connector is fully seated with a gentle click before proceeding.
Step 10: Replace Connector Bracket
Replace the 5 screws holding the display cable bracket. Tighten carefullyโdon't over-tighten as the bracket can crack. A snug, firm fit is all you need.
Step 11: Reconnect Battery
Reconnect the battery cable by aligning and pressing down until it clicks. Replace the battery connector bracket and its screws. Ensure it's fully seated and secure.
Step 12: Power On & Test Display
Before sealing the display, power on your iPhone 11. Check:
- Display shows image properly
- No dead pixels or colored lines
- Touch responds across entire screen
- Face ID works (camera in notch)
- True Tone is active
Step 13: Apply Display Adhesive
Once testing passes, shut down the device. Apply new display adhesive strips around the frame. Most kits include pre-cut strips that stick to the aluminum frame. Position them along all four edges.
Step 14: Lower Display & Seal
Carefully lower the display assembly into place. Start at the top and work down. Once positioned, press firmly around all edges for 10-15 seconds per section. Apply especially firm pressure at the bottom and sides where water sealing is critical.
Step 15: Replace Bottom Screws
Replace the two pentalobe screws at the bottom beside the Lightning port. Tighten firmly but don't over-tighten. These screws help maintain water resistance.
Step 16: Final Inspection & Test
Do a final visual inspection. The display should sit flush with the frameโno gaps between glass and aluminum. Power on and verify all functionality one more time. Your iPhone 11 is now ready to use with a fresh screen!

White lines on display: LCD connector isn't fully seated. Power off, disconnect, and reseat firmly.
Face ID not working: Front sensor connector might be loose. This connector is criticalโreseat it carefully.
Touch not responding: Digitizer connector is loose. Shut down and check all three display connectors.
Water damage after repair: Adhesive wasn't applied fully. Dry the device and reapply adhesive to create a waterproof seal.
