๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Power Off & Remove Screws

Power off your iPhone 8 completely. Remove the two pentalobe screws on either side of the Lightning port.

Step 2: Heat Edges (Optional)

The iPhone 8 has waterproof adhesive around the screen. Applying gentle heat makes opening easier. Use a hair dryer on the edges for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: Create Opening Gap

Apply suction cup to the lower third of the screen (above home button). Pull up firmly while pressing down on the frame to create a small gap.

Step 4: Open From LEFT Side

Insert an opening pick and slide along the left edge, then around the other edges.

โš ๏ธ iPhone 8 opens from the LEFT! Display cables are on the RIGHT side. This is opposite of iPhone X and newer! Open like a book with spine on the right.

Step 5: Open Display

Swing the display open from the left side to about 90 degrees. Support it so it doesn't fall back.

Step 6: Disconnect Battery

Remove the 4 tri-point screws from the battery connector bracket. Lift bracket and disconnect battery with spudger.

Step 7: Disconnect Display

Remove the 5 screws from the display cable bracket. Disconnect:

  • Front sensor assembly (top connector)
  • LCD panel connector (middle)
  • Digitizer connector (bottom)

Step 8: Remove Home Button

The Touch ID home button MUST be transferred to your new screen:

  1. Remove the bracket screws holding the home button
  2. Disconnect the home button cable
  3. Carefully peel the home button from the display
๐Ÿšจ Touch ID Warning: The home button is paired to your phone's secure enclave. If damaged, Touch ID won't work and only Apple can restore it. Handle with extreme care!

Step 9: Transfer Components

Move to new screen (if not pre-installed):

  • Home button (Touch ID) - REQUIRED
  • Earpiece speaker
  • Front camera assembly
  • Metal shield plates

Step 10: Install New Screen

Connect display cables. Reconnect battery. Test before sealing:

  • Screen displays properly
  • Touch works everywhere
  • Touch ID recognizes fingerprint
  • Home button clicks properly

Step 11: Seal & Finish

Apply adhesive around edge. Close display, press firmly around perimeter. Replace bottom screws.
